ROM
Short for Read-Only Memory, ROM is a type of memory that is capable of holding data and being read from; however, it is not capable of being written to or having its data modified. Unlike RAM, ROM is
non-volatile and capable of keeping its contents regardless if it has power or not.
A good example of a type of PROM is the computer BIOS
as shown in the example picture to the right.
